Play kicked off on Friday, with group games running until way past 9pm, my pick of the Friday matches had to be Andrew Hamilton and Gordon Tanner rolling back the years to march to a very impressive 6/2 win over Chris Lewis and John Franklin, an honourable mention to Laurence Berman and David Aldwinckle holding firm to win their final group game 6/5 and sneak into the knockouts on Sunday!

Saturday saw the culmination of the group section with our 4th and final group being played out. Richard Cherry and Miranda Coyne looked to be in some fine form, winning all their matches to progress through in style, they'd be joined in the knockouts by Simon Hobson and Tim Davies, having progressed through in 2nd place, winning through on games difference!

Sunday was finally here - one goal in mind today, determine a winning pair!

Kicking off events were the winners of Group A (William Rucker and Paul Johnstone) taking on Group D runners up Simon and Tim, Simon and Tim, perhaps slightly more tuned up due to their more recent matches progressed through with a 6/3 win.

John Miller and James Holden were up next, taking on Peter Lewis and Kannan Nithi in the closest match of the day (Owe 1/4 15!). The handicap difference living up to it's suggestion, John and James winning 6/5.

Laurence Berman and David Aldwinckle claimed their spot through, besting Joel Woolf and Chris Marguerie 2/6 before Richard and Miranda took the last semi-final spot by beating Tony Branfield and Norman Hyde 6/4.

On to the semi finals: Simon and Tim vs John and James, Laurence and David vs Richard and Miranda.

Simon and Tim seemed to have found their rhythm, a 6/2 win saw them march through to be joined by Richard and Miranda who won 6/4.

By all accounts a nip and tuck final, and a exact same score line as their group match, it could not have been closer!

5/5 40/40, up steps Richard Cherry... sidewall railroad... NICK!

Huge thanks to all those who made themselves available, shifted their schedules around and helped make the event the huge success that it was!
