New Club Chair

At Monday night's club board meeting Sir Andrew Hamilton tendered his resignation as club chairman a role he has held for 20 years. Andrew proposed Vice Chair Simon Hobson as his replacement and Simon was appointed unanimously by the board. Simon thanked Andrew for his service that has seen many changes in the club.

In his time as chair Andrew has overseen the club's centenary celebrations, two royal visits, the restoration of the historic squash tennis court, reglazing the court windows, the club becoming a charity, covid lockdowns and the restoration of a Bickley tennis court floor. Andrew will remain on the board and wished Simon well in his new role.

Simon thanked Andrew on behalf of the board and the club membership for his long service at the helm and the hard work he had put into maintaining a friendly and vibrant club.

Simon has a long history with the club representing MMTCC at many competitions. Simon's father Dr Anthony Hobson served on the club committee during the 1970s and 80s with Sir Andrew's father steering the club through difficult times. Dr Hobson was an accomplished artist and painted the 'Dinner Match' that hangs in the bar at Leamington, the Hobson Cup recognises his contribution to the club.
