Pol Roger v Cambridge

It wasn't a great start in the top division facing a strong Cambridge team. The first match was the second doubles and the Moreton pair frittered away too many points before our third singles player failed to turn up thus going 0/2 down.

But Vaughan Hamilton played brilliantly to win his game as did Martin Rogers and Rich Wills. So at 2/2  pressure was on Tom Bomford who had just hot footed it back from a Rackets match at Queens. His first set against Amateur Champion Ed Kay was brilliant – Tom going 5/3 up but then failing to finish Kay off. Tiring in the second set he succumbed 1/6.

The team now play Oxford in a relegation clash despite Oxford with all their legions of members having failed to field a team in the quarters! The match will be over the weekend 26/ 27th January
